Over the past couple of weeks, I have picked up a few new make-up items, some to test and try, and then others which I have received over Christmas. The items that I most recently picked up were the Laura Mercier Loose Powder in the Universal colour, and the Laura Mercier Silk Crème Oil Free Foundation, I only got a test edition of this foundation as I wanted to try it out before I committed to buying it.

I’ve wanted to try both of these products for a while, especially the loose powder. Over the past few months I had been looking for a more affordable version but nothing in the drugstore seemed to live up to what I had in mind. Therefore, I decided to take the plunge and buy the product. I asked the lady in the store if, the Nars one would be better but she agreed that the Laura Mercier was the better of the two options.

On to the first impressions:

Laura Mercier Silk Crème Oil Free Foundation - Rose Ivory
I have wanted to test the Silk Crème foundation for a while now and after watching a few tutorials I decided the best one for me would be the Oil Free edition, the lovely lady in Space NK gave me two different colours to try out which was extremely nice of her. Applying the foundation was incredibly smooth and silky (props to the name). A small amount of the foundation really did go a long way and I was amazed the coverage. I only applied one layer, but I think that two layers would be brilliant for a night out. I was super impressed with the coverage; however, this colour was slightly too dark for my skin tone and therefore the other colour, Cream Ivory would have been better.

Laura Mercier Loose Powder - Universal
When I was debating what colour to get the lady at the counter suggested the Universal due to its blurring effect. I knew I wanted a powder that I would be able to test out the idea of ‘baking’ as this is an element of the make-up world that I was intrigued about, but had never delved into trying. The power itself is, of course, white in colour. It glides effortlessly on and feel super soft on my face. I was amazed at its blurring technique, but I have not yet grasped the ‘baking’ technique.

Overall, I am really happy by these two products and once my little test pots have run out I will be purchasing the Silk Crème foundation.
